HOLLOWNESS OF THE SOUL!

Life is a series of happiness, emptiness and sadness. You could be going through hell but still manage to feel contented and blissful . I'd say sadness is a choice to some extent . On the other hand emptiness, emptiness takes all the goodness away. It wipes away all the enthusiasm  like the rain sweeps away soil.

Emptiness makes you helpless. You really don't know what to do to get rid of it.Emptiness feels like you are trapped in a deep hollow well. You don't know how you got there and you have no idea how you'll come out. You keep guessing. To quench the emptiness you go out to social media, or get some sleep, even go for a walk or listen to your favorite nasheed but  when all the guessing is over, it  comes back.

You wish you could disect your heart just to see what's missing. You could take it gladly in order to fill the void.

But emptiness is elevated. It's a cry of your soul. You've been feeding your body with the best food. Your brain with whatever you decided to feed it. But you forgot your soul. Your soul is starving. It's empty. It yearns for the remberance of its Maker.

Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala says,
"... for without doubt, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.”(13;28)

So the emptiness will stay as long as your soul starves for its rightful food. Because it only finds true happiness and contentment through the rememberance of Allah. That's how it was conditioned by its Master.

Ibn Taymiyah said, ‘Remembrance is to the heart what water is to fish. What happens to the fish that leaves the water?’

Allah also (swt) tells us in the Quran:

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ ذِكۡرً۬ا كَثِيرً۬ا

“O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance.” (33:41)

This verse explains what Imam Ibn Taymiyah said. The remembranceof Allah  is very vital. It should be in every second, every breathe of our lives. It is what nourishes our souls with satisfaction. It is what gives our souls life. The moment we leave it,that feeling of emptiness crawls in.

Dhikr links our souls with the Creator. It involves the heart and mind. It involves thinking and making mention of Allah at all times. The more the rememberance the stronger the connection with Allah.

Allah tells us in the Quran:

“Then remember Me, I will remember you.”(2:152)

As much as we leave a rat race life, we shouldn't let our souls starve. When the soul stays empty , it goes out to get anything, anything just to feel the void. When we don't invite Allah to our souls, we invite the devil who brings emptiness instead of contentment and bliss.

Our Prophet (saw) said:

“The devil is encircling the heart of the son of Adam, when he mentions Allah, he withdraws; but when he is neglectful, he makes evil suggestions.” (Bukhari)

Rememberance of Allah entails the morning and evening supplications, istighfar(asking Allah for forgiveness), tahmid(saying Alhamdulillah), Tahlil(saying Laa ilaha illa Llah), Tasbih(saying subhanallah and much more. This is what keeps our souls lively and contented. And the moment we stop this then our souls go out of breathe.
