Patience from Ayyub Alaihi Salaam

"And surely we try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and crops, but give glad tidings to the steadfast, who when a misfortune befalls them, say lo! we are Allah's (possession of Allah) and to Him shall we surely return. · Such are they on whom are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such are the rightly-guided." (Surah 2: Verse 155-157)

Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala gives us examples of people who practiced patience for a long time. He makes mention of prophet Ayub Alaihi salaam. A descendant of prophet Ibrahim and a nephew of Prophet Yakub Alaihi Salaam.

History tells us that prophet Ayyub was well off; he had vast castles, owned tremendous wealth, and had lots of children and wives. However despite all these blessings he was still humble and a dedicated worshiper of Allah Subhaanahu wa ta'alaa.

Ayyub Alaihi salaam was however afflicted by calamities that came one after the other. Thieves broke into his farms they killed all his servants and took his farm produces . Later on, the roof of his house fell off and killed most of his family members. Ayyub Alaihi salaam was struck by a terrible illness for eighteen years. He was so ill that his friends deserted from him except for his wife, Rahma. People attributed his illness to sin, which is a false belief.

Prophet Ayyub was still devoted in prayer,  his wife was pissed off, that he never stopped worshiping God even though He didn't grant him cure.

Prophet Ayyub alaihi salaam finally raised his hands and asked Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala to grant him a cure. The Quran says, [21:83] And Ayub, when he cried to his Lord, (saying): Harm has afflicted me, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful.

And Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala answered his call,[21:84] Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers. Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala granted Ayyub everything he had lost as a result of his patience.

Our country's economy is on its knees, floods have affected a large population, COVID 19 cases add up each day a lot is happening.  We shouldn't get tired of worshipping Allah with sincerity just because things aren't back to normal. It is with no doubt that Allah will see us through, He will restore our lives just like Ayyub alaihi salaam. He will grant us good health, wealth as  a  reward for our patience. Stay Safe.

NOTE:There's a mistake in the title of the article in the newspaper, it is Ayyub and not Yakub Alaihi Salaam. A few errors in the article too but Alhamdulillah the message is clear. The required corrections have been made on the blog article. It is only Allah Subhaanahu wata'ala who does not make mistakes.

MAY ALLAH GRANT US GUIDANCE.
