ALIENS OF OUR ERA BY ROSE WANGITHI! ! REVIEW!

Wow!

When I started reading this book I never thought I'd keep on turning pages non stop, ignoring my rumbling stomach so as not to miss out on the flow in this novel.

Girl, this book deserves to be a World's Best Seller. Your articulated creativity and how you blend it with the current affairs and the modern lifestyle is on point.
What can I say?
This is more than I expected. Girl, you are sooo gooooood.
I am soo proud of you.

Aliens of a our error is a story of a Caucasian girl with African parents. She is the heart of her parents. She's their world and as much as she strives to please her parents, her parents ensure she never misses anything.

The girl's name is Mariam. Her parents are Mr. Robert Williams a well known philanthropic politician and her mom, Mrs. Davina Williams a home baker.

Mariam faces discrimination and insults at her school and even in the general society due to her skin tone. She addresses the issue to her parents but they can't seem to find an easy way to protect her from that. Mariam's best friend ;Grace acts as her support system, defending her from the racists habits of their schoolmates. She is her go to person through out.

Mariam has a dream of being appointed as the students president, her dad comes to celebrate this achievement with her. He falls unconscious and is rushed to the hospital. Mariam is scared of what might happen but she doesn't share the dream with anyone. After a few days, Mariam's dad travels abroad for a political summit for two weeks.Mariam attends a music festival competition and they both win. This was Mariam's goal, she's so excited to break the news to her daddy upon his arrival.

Upon the reunion of the return of  Mr Williams, Mariam recieves her dream guitar from her dada and later on both of her parents go to the mall as she's left home with her aunt ;Tracy.

Mr. Williams goes missing for more than a day and is later found at Agha Khan Hospital, dead. This is so hard for Davina and her baby to take.

Mr Williams extended family comes for the burial ceremony and it is when Mariam finds ds out from her racists, mouthy aunty that she's adopted by Mr. and Mrs Williams.Mariam is confused and hurt after confirming that she wasn't living with her biological parents.Mariam runs away to her friend ;Grace. She wants nothing to do with her foster parents. She feels betrayed for not being told about her real roots.

Her mother ;Mrs Williams comes by Grace's home and reveals the whole story of how Mariam was adopted.Mariam finds out about how she was taken all the way from the United States of America to her current home;Kenya . Mariam calms down and forgives her foster parents and they all attend the burial ceremony.

Mrs Williams is accused (by her in laws) of kidnapping and killing Mr Williams. After evidence is gathered she's proved to be innocent and Tracy and Tabitha (her sister in laws) are proved guilty for the murder of their brother. They are sentenced to life imprisonment.

Mariam recollects herself and goes back to the normal life of schooling but this time round she's standing proudly for her identity. She preaches about not fitting in and standing out. She preaches against racism. She stands head high with her Caucasian identity as the world seems never to stop the racial discrimination.

Mariam's story encourages the reader to stand up for what they truly are without fear of being labeled odd. It shows the reader the struggle of being different and motivates not to fit in regardless. The author makes mention of well-known series to expound the subject of racism and the beauty of being different.
She also uses poetry not just to explain the theme of the whole book and every chapter but to bring tastes to the unfolding story.
She uses quotes from well-known activists ;Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm x etc to elaborate the message on every chapter.

This novel is just amazing. It deserves to be on famed libraries.
